چکیده

Contamination of waters by discharge heavy metals such as Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Zinc (Zn) etc. from various industrial activities poses a great threat to humans, plants and animals, thus the need for their removal waste waters. In this work, synthetic tobermorite was prepared using soda-lime-silica glass silica precursor while snail shell ash used source calcium oxide. Several compositions were formulated with varying combination soda-lime ash. The bodies sintered at 950oC in an electric muffle furnace. Analyses scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDS) Fourier Transform Infra-red Spectroscopy (FT-IR) assess microstructure functional groups present developed tobermorite. further immersed aqueous solutions containing (Pb2+ Cd2+) whilst parameters temperature, contact time, pH, adsorbent dosage, adsorbate concentration performance results morphology shows that tobermorites possess irregular spherical shaped grain coated water films EDS presence Ca Si small amount Al confirming FT-IR indicates – O main groups. adsorption experiment performed is effective studied work. However, impaired increase temperature above room temperature.

Commercial Coffee Wastes as Materials for Adsorption of Heavy Metals from Aqueous Solutions

This work aims to study the removal of Cu(II) and Cr(VI) from aqueous solutions with commercial coffee wastes. Materials with no further treatment such as coffee residues from café may act as adsorbents for the removal of Cu(II) and Cr(VI). Equilibrium data were successfully fitted to the Langmuir, Freundlich and Langmuir-Freundlich model (L-F). The maximum adsorption capacity of the coffee res...

Removal of heavy metals from aqueous solution by sawdust adsorption.

The adsorption of lead, cadmium and nicel from aqueous solution by sawdust of walnut was investigated. The effect of contact time, initial metal ion concentration and temperature on metal ions removal has been studied. The equilibrium time was found to be of the order of 60 min. Kinetics fit pseudo first-order, second-order and intraparticle diffusion models, hence adsorption rate constants wer...

Removal of Heavy Metals from Aqueous Solution by Mordenite Nanocrystals

This study examined the ability of the synthetic mordenite nanocrystal to remove Tl(III) and As(III) from an aqueous solution. The determination of the concentration changes of H+ and OH- quantities in the acidic (pH 3) and alkali (pH 9) treated mordenite nanocrystals were done by the potentiometric titration curves. The maximum uptake capacities (Qmax) of these metal ions using the mordenite i...

Mercury removal from aqueous solutions by palm leaves adsorbent

Mercury is a carcinogenic and teratogenic compound that tends to accumulate in water solutions. In this research, the removal of mercury from an aqueous solution was evaluated by using palm leaves. Experiments were performed to study the adsorption efficiency, the effect of the adsorbent amount, the balance time, the adsorbate concentration, and the pH on mercury removal. The experimental appar...
